HALL OF FAME

We are proud to announce that Kelly Hand of Carmen, Manitoba was selected to be one of the inductees into the Sport Manitoba Hall of Fame. Congratulations Kelly! The induction dinner will take place on November 5, 2011 at the Victoria Inn.

PAM AM GAMES

Congratulations to Roger Burns, Andrew Burns, Gary Harmer and Graeme Clendenan for qualifying in the J24 for the Pam Am Games in October 2011 in Guadalajara , Mexico .

Manitoba Keelboat Championships

The Manitoba Keelboat Championships will be held on September 10-11 at the Gimli YC.  For the NOR visit www.gimliyachtclub.com

Fall Team Training

Team training will run every Saturday and Sunday (weather dependant) at the Manitoba Sailing Centre at the Gimli Yacht Club. We will start at 11:00am and will finish around 2:00pm. The dates are:
September 10/11
September 17/18
September 24/25
October 1/2
October 8/9     
October 15 (Equipment Day)

Fall Training for Manitoba Games Athletes

A fall training for Manitoba Games athletes will be offered on Saturdays, beginning September 10, at the Manitoba Sailing Centre at the Gimli Yacht Club. We will start at 11:00am and will finish around 2:00pm. Please register with Brigitte to secure a boat. Additional dates will be announced via email.

Awards Ceremony – November 11 at 6:00pm at Fort Whyte Alive

Sail Manitoba is now accepting nominations for the annual awards. For a complete list of awards categories go to www.sailmanitoba.ca . Please send your nomination to our office no later than October 14.

LOWISA

The 44th annual Lake of the Woods International Sailing Association regatta, held August 2-6, was again a great success! For reports and results visit www.lowisa.org

CYA Sail West in Gimli

A huge thank you to Commodore Eric Turner and his crew at the Gimli Yacht Club for hosting a terrific event. Sail West took place from August 4-7 with two days of training and two days of racing with 85 athletes competing in Lasers, Radials, 29ers, Optis and 2.4ms. CORK International and CORK OCR

The following classes were invited to CORK International from August 15-18: 29er, Club 420 (all types), Laser>>, Byte, Byte CII, Laser, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, O'Pen Bic and Optimist Dinghy and 29er and Byte CII North American Championship. With one layover day in between events the OCR (Olympic Classes Regatta) took place from August 20-25 and was open for Lasers, Radials, Finns, 49ers, RS:X/Windsurfers, 29erXX and for the first time for Kite Boarders. Little Bird Regatta and MB Games Qualifier

The little bird regatta at Pelican Lake was host to the Manitoba Games Qualifier for the Westman Region. For regatta results go to www.pycmb.ca . Congratulations to the Westman Team!

Mobility Cup and 2.4mR North Americans in Hamilton

The North American 2.4mR Championship was held in conjunction with Mobility Cup 2011. The beauty of the 2.4mR is that it levels the playing field. Disabled sailors are no longer disabled as they can compete boat on boat with able bodied. For results for the Mobility Cup and the 2.4m NAs go to www.mobilitycup2011.ca

CYA Youth Championships in Halifax

The Trihedral CYA 2011 Youth National U19 Sailing Championships wrapped up September 1 st in Glen Haven, NS, after 4 days of racing at the St. Margaret Sailing Club. 135 competitors took part, representing 7 Canadian provinces. Congratulations to Austin Ross from the Winnipeg Sailing Centre who received the Fogh Marine Sportsmanship Trophy . Commodore's Cup and MB Games Qualifier

The annual Commodore's Cup at the Gimli YC took place on September 4/5.  The Dinghies raced on Saturday and the Keelboats on Sunday.  It was also host to the Manitoba Games Interlake Qualifier and the Laser qualifier for the Central and Eastman Region.  Congratulations to Team Interlake.

MB Qualifier for Central and Winnipeg I+II

On Sunday September 5 th eight athletes qualified in the Pram class for the Central as well as the Winnipeg Region. Congratulations to the Central and Winnipeg Teams.
