2011 Mid-Canada Boat Show
This year's boat show will take place from March 3-6 at the Convention Centre in Winnipeg . The show displays three floors of everything you need for summer fun - the newest boats and motors, camping, fishing and water sports equipment, from the top manufacturers and suppliers in the industry. Retailers will be offering their best prices of the season, and one lucky customer will win $5,000 towards the purchase of their new boat and motor! More at www.midcanadaboatshow.com
Racing Tactics Seminar Special Feature at the Boat Show
On Saturday, March 5 th North U will be holding a Racing Tactics Seminar at the Convention Centre. The seminar will run from 9:00am -4:30pm with a 45 minutes lunch break. The instructor will be Ross MacDonald, Silver Medal winner in the Star at the Olympics in Athens . The fee of $95 per person includes a course book and a free pass for the boat show. A CD for $40 can be purchased at the door. To register call Jim Flood at 452-1227. Everyone is invited!
Volunteers needed for the Boat Show

Cruising Instructors Needed
If you have great sailing skills and you want to make your hobby your job, then being a cruising instructor may be just what you are looking for! Come and join us for an information session on becoming a Basic Cruising Instructor on January 12th at 6:30pm at the Sport for Life Centre .
Team Winter Training
The date for the next team training camp in Victoria , BC for Lasers, 29ers and 2.4ms is February 18-21.
The Midwinter's and a two-day training camp before the regatta will take place from March 23-27 at Marina del Ray in Los Angeles and are for Lasers only. We have four open spots on the trailer for this event and if you know of anyone who is interested in going and can manage to get a boat in Vancouver/Victoria, please let us know.
There will be a possible training camp and regatta at the end of April in Vancouver and we will keep you posted about the details.
Team Cross Country Skiing
We are starting again with our cross country skiing outings this upcoming weekend. Every Saturday we will meet at 11:00am at a different site in Manitoba for some skiing. You don't need to have any skills and you can go at your own pace. This is not a competition for a change

Sail West will be hosted August 4th-7th, 2011 by the Gimli Yacht Club. The planning committee is well on their way to organizing this big event, but we are still looking for sponsors and volunteers. Manitoba Games 2012
The 2012 Games will take place from July 15-21 at Wellman Lake in Duck Mountain . Eligible Athletes are one male and one female (age 10-14) in Prams and one male in Laser radials and one female in Laser 4.7s (age 13-17).

ACTIVATE 2011 National Youth Leadership Forum
Canadian youth between the ages of 16-22, are invited to apply for Motivate Canada's 7 th annual ACTIVATE National Youth Leadership Forum on Sport, Recreation and Physical Activity. ACTIVATE 2011 will be held at Carleton University in Ottawa, ON from May 11-15, 2011 and will bring together up to 50 young people from across Canada to ACTIVATE their communities and effect positive change through sport, recreation and physical activity. Motivate Canada is looking for applicants who have an opinion about active recreation, sport, and physical activity; are interested in leadership; have an interest and dedication to their community; have a desire to use sport and physical activity for social change; and are willing to share their ideas and work with other youth to come up with creative solutions to getting youth more active across the country through youth-led physical activity initiatives. News from CAAWS (Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport)
To support women leaders in sport and physical activity CAAWS is developing an online community where women can connect, develop skills, share ideas, discuss issues, find solutions, and take action. At the 2010 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership conference CAAWS captured the experiences of senior women leaders to generate dynamic and inspiring content for the network.
