Award Nominations

Nominate Manitoba 's outstanding volunteers and sailors for our annual Awards and Appreciation night!! The awards will take place on Friday, November 5 th at Fort Whyte Alive.  For more information about the awards, please visit www.sailmanitoba.com . The nomination deadline is October 10th.

Porthole Advertising

The Porthole magazine is published twice yearly and is sent to over 1800 sailors and boaters across Canada . It provides great opportunity for businesses to advertise their products and services. If you would like to advertise in our magazine visit our website for more information.

2.4m Training camp in Victoria

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club recently played host to a 2.4m training camp leading up to their Fall Dinghy Championships on September 25-26, 2010. Event coach Michael Pinckney provided leadership and a great opportunity for athletes and coaches ,  including participants from Manitoba , Alberta and British Columbia ! Congratulations to Doris Peloquin from Manitoba for her outstanding performance in Victoria !

This clinic is the first step in a three year plan leading up to the 2013 Canada Summer Games , in which the 2.4m class will be represented for the first time ever! It was recently announced that the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron will also play host to the Disabled Sailing World Championships in 2014 , a very exciting event which will bring sailors to Halifax from around the world.

Team Winter Training

The team trailer is leaving f or Vancouver mid - October for the Pumpkin Bowl at the West Vancouver Y acht C lub .  The truck will then head to Victoria to be stored away for the winter. Manitoba t eam members will be participat ing at different events throughout the fall, winter and spring, with the highlight being the Midwinter's in Marina del Rey. If you are interested to load your boat on the trailer let me know by latest October 8th.

Winter Schedule for Cruising Courses

Basic Cruising evening (6:30pm–8:30pm)
Wednesdays, January 19 – March 9
Tuesdays, February 1 – March 22
Wednesdays, March 9 – May 4
Basic Cruising weekend (9am-5pm)
Saturdays, April 9, 16, 30
Coastal Navigation evening (6:30pm–8:30pm)
Tuesdays, April 5 – May 24

All Bingos will take place at Club Regent on 1425 Regent Avenue. Please book your spot through the MSA office at 925-5650 or send an email to sailing@sportmanitoba.ca.

Next Board Meeting

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 5 th at 5:30 pm at the Sport for Life Centre.  The minutes from the board meetings can be found at www.sailmanitoba.com/about/minutes.htm
