Call for Sailors
A new sailing event in the disabled sailing category was added to the Canada Summer Games in 2013, which will be sailed in the exciting Paralympics boat class 2.4mR (www.us24meter.org). We are now the proud owner of one of these boats and we are seeking athletes who would be interested in trying out. You don't have to be a sailor to get started. Everyone can learn the ropes right from the beginning and our coaches will teach you everything about boathandling and racing. The classification criteria for the 2.4m is that for the Paralympic Games (which is minimal). Our training program takes place every Monday and Wednesday and Friday at 5:00 pm at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive. Please forward this information to any athletes you might know who have a disability and who might be interested. Viking Cup
Light winds at the first dinghy regatta of the season on June 19/20. Thanks to Glenn Penner and his volunteer crew for putting on this annual event. Congratulations to the winners Kayden Poluchuk in the Opti and Tanja Smutny in the Radial. Results can be found on our homepage.
Assistant Race Officer Course
Do you want to experience the thrill of racing on the water instead of being stuck on shore? Take the Assistant Race Officer Course on Friday, July 9 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at the RLWYC. The fee is $50 plus GST and includes the booklet 'Join the Race Committee'.

Windsurfing Coaches Clinic
It has been 10 years since the last windsurfing coaches clinic and last weekend 5 coaches became certified at the GYC. They will run several learn to windsurf programs around the province. Thanks to our excellent IE David Zeni from Toronto and to the Gimli YC for a great set up.
Coaches Clinic
A combo first aid course with full EFA (emergency first aid which includes CPR level C) and recerts together will take place on Friday, July 2 at 9:30pm at the RLWYC. The fee for the full EFA is $70+GST and for the recerts $40+GST
