Eastman Regional Championships
On Friday, July 30 all Clubs from the Eastman Region are invited to participate at the Regional (Opti) Championships. Anyone coming with their Opti's should meet at 8:45 am at Big Island Landing. For registration call Paul at 349-2072.
RACING NEWS
Zig Zag Open Regatta
The Zig Zag open regatta on July 3 and 4 was followed by a racing camp on July 5 and 6. Lot's of Lasers, 420s and two new up and coming 29er teams participated. Coaches were high performance coach Robin Blanchard from Montreal, team coach Rory McMorris, guest coach Ian Fast from RLWYC and head coach Brigitte. A BIG THANK YOU goes to Tristan Bruning for organizing this event and to the billets, the Lamoth and Hall family. Congrats to the winner Kyle Ross. For results go to www.sailmanitboa.com.
Richardson Regatta and District 4 Laser Championships
The Racing Camp at Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club was organized by Louise Gill who did an amazing job. Thank you! Another round of thank yous goes to the billets, the Konantz, Tory, Gill and Thomson family. Coaches were high performance coach Robin Blanchard from Montreal, team coach Rory McMorris, guest coach Scott Brousseau from RLWYC. CYA Sail West
The sailing team participated one week later at CYA Sail West at Lake Wabamun, close to Edmonton. The club made a large effort in providing the sailors with high quality racing as well as an exceptional on shore service. The kitchen, with the most friendly food handlers, was amazing. BOOT Camp and Provincial Optimist Championships
Again thank you to Louise Gill from RLWYC who put on a wonderful BOOT Camp for our developmental Optimist sailors. The two coaches Scott Brousseau and Julia Bailey were excellent, thanks for a great event. Congrats to the winners in their respective fleet Kayden Polachek, Malcolm Straker and Lissi Ranta. Big Bird Classics and Westman Regional Championships
The weekend of the Big Bird Classics started w ith a racing clinic for young athletes from Pelican Yacht Club on Friday, July 23. It was followed by the regatta which included the Westman Regional Championships. Congrats to the winners Emma Williams and Ellyn Waschuk .
Gimli Windsurfing Clinic
The first windsurfing clinic of the year was hosted by the Gimli Yacht Club on the weekend July 24/25. Thanks to coach Paloma Corrin, who had to overcome some unexpected obstacles but managed as always with a big smile on her face.

Upcoming Regattas and Clinics
The Gimli Yacht Club will be hosting a four day laser race training camp for youth from August 12-15. 2 days of training, followed by a two day regatta. Registration cost $180 including lunches and suppers. Bring your own Laser or Byte. The camp will be coached by Glenn Penner on Thursday and Tanja Smutny on Friday.
