UPCOMING EVENTS

Sail Wave Training Seminar

Just a reminder that we will hold a Sail Wave Seminar tomorrow Tuesday, June 2 from 5:30pm - 8:30pm at Sport Manitoba. Yacht Clubs - make sure to send your Results Chair to collect information and instruction on how to use the Sail Wave program for scoring, especially for scoring boats with a handicap. The fee is $25. To register call 925-5650.

Buffalo Cup at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre

Our annual Buffalo Cup at the WSC at Fort Whyte Alive will take place June 3 rd at 5:30pm. This regatta is open to anyone. We will have four 420s, 2 Martin 16s and 6 Optis available. First come - first serve, please register with Brigitte at 925-5647.

Weekend Training and Regattas at the Gimli YC and the Falcon YC

The dates for the weekend dinghy race training are:
Jun 6/7  Training at Gimli YC
Jun 13/14  Viking Cup Regatta at Gimli YC (also CSG Qualifier)
Jun 20/21  One day of training and one day of Falcon Cup Regatta at Falcon YC
Jun 27/28  Falcon Open Regatta at Falcon YC (also CSG Qualifier)

Coaches Clinic at the WSC

Our annual coaches' clinic will take place from June 22-26 at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive and is filling up quickly . You'll find more information about this clinic on our website www.sailman i toba.com . If you haven't registered yet please do so by sending an email to sailing@sportmanitoba.ca .

Assistant Race Officer Course

To register for the Assistant Race Officer Course on Tuesday, June 23 rd and Thursday, June 25 th from 7:00pm-9:00pm at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive, please call the office at 925-5647. The fee is $50 plus GST and includes the booklet 'Join the Race Committee'

Drug Education Seminar

Athletes who are eligible to qualify for the Canada Summer Games, and have not taken their drug education seminar yet can do so on June 25 th from 6:00pm -7:30pm at Sport Manitoba.

RACING

Change of date for CYA SAIL WEST

Please be aware that there has been a change in date for CYA's Sail West. Mark your calendars to July 17-19, 2009

Selection Criteria - 2009 Canada Summer Games in PEI

Click here for the selection criteria for the C SG  in Prince Edward Island from August 15-22, 09. The registration deadline has been extended to June 12th.

Registration Deadlines

Provincial Keelboat Championships

The Manitoba keelboat championships will take place on September 12-13, 09 at the Gimli Yacht  Club

Provincial Dinghy Championship Circuit

The format of the Provincial Dinghy Championships has been changed from a weekend regatta to a championship circuit. Check out the dates on www.sailman i toba.com  and mark your calendars

Provincial Optimist Championships

The Provincial Opti Championships will take place after BOOT Camp at the Gimli YC on July 25/26, 09

Prairie Opti Grand Prix Circuit

Laser District 4 Champs

The District 4 Championships will be held at Zig Zag YC on July 4/5.

Laser Master Sailors

If you own a Laser and are over 35, you need to be on the Master's Regatta circuit! More at www.sailman i toba.com

Yacht Clubs -  H ave your Regatta Sanctioned by the MSA

In order to be covered by the Sport Manitoba liability insurance for your regatta, send an email to sailing@sportmanitoba.ca and apply for approval. The Sanctioning Policy can be found at www.sailman i toba.com  under About Us/Policies

New Rule Books for Sale

The MSA is now selling the new Racing Rules of Sailing (2009-2012) with CYA prescriptions. Cost is $19.00 and they are available at the MSA office .

 

LEARN TO SAIL

Sailing Lessons in the City

If you would like to take sailing lessons in the city, sign up for a course at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive. For dates, visit our website www.sailman i toba.com  and click on the sailing lessons link.

Mobile Sailing School

Check out the schedule for our mobile sailing school on our website www.sailman i toba.com  under the sailing lesson link. The school is booked solid from June 22-September 4 at various locations around the province.

Coaches - Are You Insured?

Have you paid your annual coaches' fee of $160 directly to the CYA to be certified and insured for the upcoming season? You can log in online at https://members.sailing.ca/index.php?action=_login.show_member_login

Respect in Sport

A friendly reminder that you also need to take the Respect in Sport online Certification at www.sportmanitoba.ca otherwise you will not be certified to coach or to teach sailing
