Porthole Submissions

I am working on the spring issue of the Porthole magazine and I am looking for articles, stories, pictures and of course lot's of ads. Please club members: send me your stories and pictures about your winter adventures down south or overseas. Submission deadline is April 15, 09

MSA's annual coaches clinic will be held from June 23-27 at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive. The following clinics will be offered:

June 25/26 Bronze Sail Coach Clinic
June 27 Opti Module
June 24/26 Assistant Race Manager Clinic

Summer Jobs for Coaches

MSA will be hiring a summer student for the MSA office for eight weeks starting May 25, 2009. MSA is also looking for two coaches for the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive and two coaches for the Mobile Sailing School. Disabled Sail Manitoba is looking for coaches for their summer program at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre. Applications and resumes should be sent to sailing@sportmanitoba.ca

Coaches Registration for 2009

The registration fee for 2009 will be increasing to $160. You can register online and securely pay your 2009 dues with Credit Card by logging in to the CYA Member's Area @ www.sailing.ca

Orange Coach Clinic

Dates: May 8-13, Location: Buffalo Canoe Club, Fort Erie, Ontario. Deadline for Applications: April 17, 2009. Cost: Total Cost $840.00. If you are interested in this clinic please contact Brigitte.

Adapted Sailing Clinic

On March 14-15 in conjunction with the Disabled Sailing Association of BC (Victoria branch) CYA trained Learning Facilitators for the first course in a CYA Professional Coach Development Series - Coaching Learn to Sail to Persons with Disabilities.

RACING

Race Management Courses

An Assistant Race Manager Course will be offered at our Coaches Clinic at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre on June 23 and 25 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Please register at the MSA office.

New Rule Books for Sale

The MSA is now selling the new Racing Rules of Sailing (2009-2012) with CYA prescriptions. Cost is $19.00 and they are available by contacting the MSA office .

Learn To Sail Schedule At The Winnipeg Sailing Centre

OTHER

Sport Manitoba is On the Move

Renovations are under way! As many are aware, Sport Manitoba and its partners have found a new home for sport in the province. Last month the MSA office was moved into an office on the 2 nd floor in the Sport Manitoba building before its final move into the new Sports for Life building on Alexander and Pacific. Membership Fees

MSA/CYA Member Clubs will soon be receiving their invoice for the 2009/2010 membership year in the mail.  Membership fees are due as of June 1, 2009 . 

Mercury Outboards

If you are in the market for a new Outboard motor this season you should check out the Mercury Marine information on the CYA website www.sailing.ca   This program may offer you large savings.

Casting Call for Local Film Production

"The Don Cherry Story" The Don Cherry Story, a two-night mini-series for CBC, is shooting in and around Winnipeg between May 19th and July 24th, 2009. Contact the MSA office for more info.

Upcoming Bingo Dates

Following are the dates for the upcoming Bingos at Club Regent, 1425 Regent Avenue West, as mentioned in our monthly Newsletter.  Please confirm your spots as soon as possible through the MSA office by reply e-mail or by calling Penny at 925-5648.  We require 7 volunteers per Bingo.
Monday, April 27:           9:00 - 11:45 p.m.         7 spots open
Tuesday, May 12:          9:00 - 11:45 p.m.         7 spots open
Friday, June 12:             6:00 - 9:45 p.m.           2 confirmed, 5 spots open

Sunday, June 28:           Noon - 3:45 p.m.         7 spots open
