New Fall Sailing Program

The MSA will offer a sailing program at the Manitoba Sailing Centre at the Gimli Yacht Club every  Saturday and Sunday from September 6-28 from 11:00am - 2:00pm. The program will be run in four Club 420s and eight spots per session are available. Booking will be taken on a first come - first served basis. Instruction will be given by certified CYA instructors. The fee is $30 per session. Call the MSA office  at 925-5650 for more information  or to book your spot.

The 43 rd annual Lake of the Woods In ternational Sailing Association regatta, held August 3 - 9 , was a great success! For reports and results visit http://www.lowisa.org/Results.html.

CYA Youth Championships in Halifax

This year's Youth Championship was held at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron from August 7-12. The regatta was attended by 12 Manitoba sailors; four in the 29er, four in the Laser Radial and four in the Laser 4.7 class. Congratulations to:

3. John Gray Thompson Laser 4.7

Power Smart Manitoba Games in Carman

The sailing event for the MB Games took place from August 14-21 at Lake Stephenfield . 30 sailors, 8 coaches, 8 managers, 8 mission staff, 4 race officials and many enthusiastic parents were on hand to witness the birth of a new generation of Opti racers. CORK in Kingston

Three of our high performance 29ers attended the 29er North Americans held at the Canadian Olympic Regatta Kingston from August 16-20 Congratulations to:

Little Bird Regatta at Pelican Yacht Club

A nice season end regatta took place on August 23 at the Pelican Yacht Club. The little bird regatta is an annual dinghy regatta and was very well attended. Congratulations to:

Commodore's Cup at the Gimli Yacht Club

The annual Commodore's Cup at the Gimli YC took place on Sunday, August 31. Although it was a long weekend, nine young sailors from all over the province came out on Saturday for the training and 18 sailors came out on Sunday for the regatta. Congratulations to:

New date for the  Provincial Championships

The Provincials  in the 29er, Laser, Radial and 4.7 classes will be held on Sunday, September 7 at the Prairie Wind Regatta at the Manitoba Sailing Centre (Gimli YC)

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

Fall Racing Training at the Manitoba Sail Centre

We are still offering race training  (weather dependant) every Saturday and a regatta every Sunday at the Manitoba Sailing Centre at the Gimli Yacht Club. We will start at 10:00am and will finish around 15:00. If you have your own boat come out and join the sailing team. For Opti sailors we will have the Prams from the Mobile Opti School available. The fee  per session is $20 per boat for non team members. The dates are:

September 6/7 Training/Prairie Wind Regatta and Provincials
September 13/14 Training/Viking Cup
September 20/21 Training/Frozen Tears Regatta
September 27/28 Training/Bitter End Regatta
October 5 Pumpkin Regatta
October 13 Equipment Day

Upcoming Bingos

Thursday, September 25 @ 4 :30pm - 6:45pm
All Bingos will take place at McPhillips Street Station. Please book your spot through the MSA office, 925-5650.
