Basic Cruising Course

There is still room available in our upcoming Basic Cruising Course which will be held each Tuesday from January 22 nd until March 11 th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm on the 2nd floor of the Sport Manitoba Building at 200 Main Street . Free parking is provided in the underground parkade. The Course Conductor will be Wolfe Smythe.  The p rice , including course material and tax es, is $189. If you would like to obtain your Pleasure Craft Operator Card you can purchase the Spark Start manual at an additional cost of $26.25.

Celestial Navigation Course

We have set the date for the Celestial Navigation Course for Wednesday February 28 th until April 17 th from 7:00pm – 10:00pm again at the Sport Manitoba. Course Conductor will be Davis Daycock. The price for this course is $270 plus taxes. You will need a divider, a parallel ruler, chart 1 and chart 3463 for English Bay and  you can purchase these at the MSA office.

Date Change for VHF Seminar

The date for the VHF Seminar  has been  changed to Monday April 7th and April 14th.  The seminar will be held on the 2nd floor of Sport Manitoba. Course Conductor will be George Bush. Price for the Seminar is $70 plus taxes.

Team Event at Falcon Ridge

On Sunday, January 6 th , Team Toba had their first team event at Falcon Ridge for some Skiing/Snowboarding. Thanks to Athlete Rep Dylan's excellent organizational skills, nine team members made the trip and had a blast. With a beautiful view  of  Falcon Lake , but only a couple of lifts and runs, Falcon Ridge turned out to be better than expected. The Team returned home sore and bruised but definitely prepared to  go  back next year. 

Canada Summer Games 2013

How do you become a certified Judge?

Volunteer Manitoba 's Winter/Spring Calendar

The 2008 Winter and Spring Training Schedule has been developed by Volunteer Manitoba and includes wo r kshops like Roles & Responsibilities of the Board, Effective, Efficient and Enjoyable Board Meetings and Strategic Board Governance. Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)

If you, or any member of your family, operate a power driven vessel or a personal watercraft, you are required by law to obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card and carry it with you at all times  while on the water . To date any person opera ting a power driven b oat less than 4 meters long will require the 'Card' by September 15, 2009 ....more at www.sailmanitoba.com/safety/safety/htm

Respect in Sport

Another reminder that all coaches and instructors in Manitoba are required to  be  certified in the Respect in Sport program.  You will not be eligible for employment as a yacht club instructor or sailing coach if you haven't completed this program. The program can be accessed at www.sportmanitoba.ca

Change of Bingo Year

Team members and member clubs requested an earlier payout of the bingo funding. At the MSA board meeting in December 2007 the board passed a motion to change the bingo year from April 1 - March 31 to January 1 - December 31, which will be in effect for 2008.  The funding for 2007 will be paid our by March 31, 2008.
