MIST Camp and Zig Zag open regatta

A big thank you to Darrell Stewart from Zig Zag Yacht Club for organizing MIST Camp and the open regatta on the weekend. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate and thunderstorms with heavy winds didn't let us get to much sailing in. Congratulations to Kyle Ross who won the Zig Zag open regatta.

BOOT Camp and Big Bird Classics

Another thank you goes to the Cox family at Pelican Yacht Club who put on a wonderful BOOT Camp for our developmental Optimist sailors. As always Chef Mike spoiled us with the best food ever. For the results of the Big Bird Classics visit http://www.pycmb.ca

Racing Camp and Richardson regatta

The Racing Camp at Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club was organized by Sara and Graeme Thomson who did an amazing job. Thanks to you and to Robby Dale who coached the Optimists and feature coach Kemia Rasa, who coached the single handed group. For the results of the Richardson Regatta go to http://www.rlwyc.ca

Racing Camp and Victoria Beach open regatta

The Racing Camp at Victoria Beach Yacht Club was once again organized single-handedly by the McMorris family. A big thank you especially to Penny for feeding all these hungry little sailors. Thanks also to Louis Philippe Bougie Bastien who coached the 29ers and, with the help of Garry Albo, put on a windsurfing clinic on the weekend. With more then 15 people registered the clinic was a huge success and the next one is already in the planning for next year. For the results of the VB open regatta visit www.sailmanitoba.com

Power Smart Manitoba Games Qualifiers

In July we finished our last qualifiers for the Games and all of our teams are elected. Every region was able to qualify a full team with alternates in place. Great job everybody. Keep in touch with your coaches, managers and advisers for the Games to find out where and when there will be practice times set up.

5. Qualifier for the Norman Region at the Precambrian Yacht Club
Strong winds at the Norman regional event but we managed to get two races in.  The kids were keen which was very impressive considering they were beginners.  A big thank you to David Price and his crew for organizing a great event.

Congratulations to the Norman Team:
Male category - Sam Dufour-Jarvis and Tyson Schanowski
Female category - Jocelyn Tyson and Shanna Fisher
Coach - Tanis Markham-Werbicki
Manager - Tanis Markham -Werbicki,

6. Qualifier for the Westman Region at the Pelican Yacht Club
Perfect wind at the Westman regional event. With 16 boats on the start line we had no problems to sail 6 races.  The level of competition was the highest in the province yet.  We had even two sailors coming from the Norman Region, two from Parkland, two from Interlake, one from Winnipeg and one from Central to train towards the Games.  Thanks to Michael and his crew for organizing this qualifier!

Congratulations to the Westman Team:

Male category - Austin Dorn and Connor Boyle
Female category - Heather Boyle and Emily Campbell
Coach - Erin Cox
Manager - Merle Boyle
