Race Management Courses

Want to experience the thrill of racing on the water instead of being stuck on shore?? Take our Assistant Race Officer Course on Saturday, April 12 th from 9:00am-1:00pm at Sport Manitoba . The fee is $50 plus GST.

The Club Race Office Course on April 15 th until April 29 th is postponed due to lack of registration.

 

LEARN TO CRUISE

Additional VHF Course

We have added another VHF Course to our schedule. The date is Monday May 5 + 12 from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Course Conductor is George Bush. Course fee is $70 + GST, including the course book and certification.

Basic Cruising Course

Just a reminder that we will be holding a Basic Cruising Course  on  Thursday s  starting April 10 th - May 29 th from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at Sport Manitoba. The Course Conductor will be Garry Hebert. The price for this course is $180 plus tax.

RACING NEWS

Congratulations to Lisa Ross from Nova Scotia for qualifying for the 2008 Olympics at the Radial Worlds in Auckland ! Tanja Smutny from Manitoba came 34 th in the silver fleet. Full results can be found at http://www.takapunaworlds.org/index.cfm?Nid=42785&RequestTimeOut=180

Next Team Event

Our next team meeting will be Sunday, April 27 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. We will have a look at the registration package and I will distribute personalized seasonal training plans as well as other paper work to the team athletes.

Montreal High Performance Camp

MIST Camp at ZZYC

This year's MIST Camp will be hosted by the Zig Zag Yacht Club from July 9-13. The camp will include a 29er development clinic on Wednesday, two days of MIST Camp on Thursday and Friday, as well as the Zig Zag Open on Saturday and Sunday .

BOOT Camp at PYC

Our BOOT Camp will be held from July 17-20 at the Pelican Yacht Club. On Thursday and Friday we will be offering two days of training for Optimists and on Saturday and Sunday the Provincial Optimist Championships as well as the Big Bird Classic will take place. On Saturday we will also host the Regional Qualifier for the Westman Region for the Power Smart Manitoba Games.

Racing Camp at RLWYC

A Racing Camp will be hosted by the RLWYC from July 23-27. This camp also includes a 29er development clinic on Wednesday, two days of training on Thursday and Friday as well as the Richardson regatta on Saturday and Sunday.

Racing Camp at VBYC

This year's Racing Camp at Victoria Beach will take place from July 29 - August 3. We will also have a different set up for this year with having a 29er development clinic on Tuesday, a high performance training camp for single and double handed sailors on Wednesday and Thursday, the VB open regatta on Friday and a windsurfing camp on the weekend. Instructor for the windsurfers and 29ers will be Louis Philippe Bougie Bastien from Montreal . New this year will be Yoga lessons every morning at the camp.

Canada could bid for 2015 Pan American Games

Canada is considering a bid for the 2015 Pan American Games. There are reports that boosters of a possible Canadian bid were encouraged after meeting late last month with Mario Vazquez Rana, head of the Pan American Sports Organization.

Respect in Sport

Please instructors and coaches if you haven't done already log on to http://sportmanitoba.essentialtalk.com/ and take the online Respect in Sport course. This course is a new requirement from Sport Manitoba and you will not be able to teach this year if you haven't been certified in this course.

Coaches and Instructor Clinic

With the new slogan 'Let the M agic B egin' the 2008 Power Smart Manitoba Games are revving up for the regional qualifying events. Our second advisor meeting will take place on Monday, April 28 at 6:00pm at Sport Manitoba. Please let us know if you are attending the meeting or if you will be joining us via conference call.

Learn to Sail at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre
