Silver Harbour
is located on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg, north
of Gimli and close to Arnes.
Silver Harbor's members enjoy cruising Lake Winnipeg
in a variety of keelboats, exploring parts of the lake
new to them, and every now and then experiencing the
thrill of a midnight sail. They offer an organized week-long
cruise to the northern reaches of Lake Winnipeg, and
often have overnight sailing cruises on weekends.
The local marina offers the club a home base complete
with small kitchen, showers, small store, library and
VHF station. The marina also offers a boat launch and
crane, outdoor storage, although you have to buy gas
and oil in Arnes. The club has a picnic shelter and
barbecue which attracts members on weekends for pot-lucks.
You can walk and swim for kilometers along the sand
beaches on either side of Silver Harbour.
The club kicks off and ends its season with a barbecue,
and they host an open house day for the local cottagers.
They throw a winter banquet for members, at which they
award cruising trophies and sailors take part in a photo
contest.
